Mud-spattered racers take on the Rockies
Hosted in only the most unique and adventurous terrains around the country, The Warrior Dash turned over three miles of Copper Mountain's hill sides into a muddy, rocky race course featuring over 12 obstacles. Racers had to endure fire and mud pits, scale walls, crawl over cargo nets, teeter across small wooden planks and more; some simply for the promise of a free beer and turkey legs the size of Thor's thigh.
Afterwards, even those who didn't dare put their inner warrior to the test were still able to enjoy live music, frothy warrior steins, and muddy entertainment. Prizes were awarded for best homegrown beard (no fakers!), best warrior costume, and the least inebriated racers (i.e. the fastest).
After two successful sold out dates in the Rockies, The Warrior Dash continues on this year's 10-city tour through the muddy contours of the United States. Several 2011 dates have already been announced, with the Rockies hopefully up for another run. — Alex Jimenez, Special to Metromix
