Stunning designs and gorgeous models heat up Denver
"A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous." - Coco Chanel
Classy and fabulous are undoubtedly two words that could be attributed to local fashion designer Gino Velardi's line of clothing and the ladies that strut his stuff. This was made stunningly apparent by his most recent fashion show. While the snow came down on Denver Friday night, Velardi sent some his best to the runway at Invesco Field's United Club Level ball room, featuring some of Denver's most beautiful models. We're not talking absurd, you-would-never-actually-wear-that type of Zoolander Derelict style apparel, but rather practical and down right sexy pieces of work.
Velardi's success is clearly inspiring, but not just for its aesthetically pleasing value. Velardi has had to over come several set backs, one of which being a stroke. Yet, as a self-taught designer, he still went on to win several prestigious awards within the world of fashion, including The Rising Star Award, and has one the freshest lines of designs in Colorado.
As Dominic Lajoie, a volunteer for the show and freshman in Colorado State University's Fashion and Design Program puts it, "A Gino Velardi show is definitely worth waiting for. His collection this time around was amazing and as a fashion design student it's always nice to know that there are more experienced designers, like Gino, that I can look up to. You can see his passion and desire to create astounding pieces in the garments that came down tonight's runway."
