2010 MLS Cup champions show off their silverware in LoDo
The Colorado Rapids became Major League Soccer 2010 Cup Champions on Sunday evening for the first time in the club's history, so what's the next logical thing to do once they got home to Denver? Parade through the city in hilarious costumes, sing loud and boisterously about victory, get a party bus, and show off their trophy....Duh!
The team was gleefully energized as they packed into Gaslamp, and eventually Nallen's Irish Pub on Market Street. The team was dressed in hilarious costumes that included, but was not limited to a cowboy, the sky with flying cows, a robe and slippers, a tree in front of a mountain view and more. Team Captain and U.S. National Team player Pablo Mastroeni led his boys in a couple of songs about the Rapids win and Conor Casey's cup winning goals, amongst other chants in the tradition of global soccer.
Rapids fans and onlookers lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time were able to witness the team invade the downtown establishments, as well as take a drink from the cup and pose for photos with both players and the newly acquired silverware. A few lucky fans were invited on to the teams' party bus as they made their rounds through the city. It was another chance to celebrate a historic victory for the hometown heros!
Metromix.com was also at the MLS Cup celebration at Skyline Park earlier in the day. See all the fans and photos from the celebration before the official party began.
