Party for disabled athletes fires up Invesco Field during win
Sure, it would have been nice to see the Broncos retain their 6-0 undefeated title right here at home. Even though romping on the Chargers on their home turf is indescribably enjoyable, the heated tailgating, fired-up ambiance at Invesco and after parties would have made for a great time right here in Denver. But who says we can't have at least some of that, even it is an away game? Clearly nobody, as hundreds of fans flocked to Invesco for a game-time party right inside the stadium.
The party, a benefit for The National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) and first of its kind, took place inside the Broncos' visiting team locker room. There were big screen TV's, food, cold beer, cocktails and access to a portion of the 100-level seating to watch the game on the jumbotron. Broncos Cheerleaders hung out all night, and prizes were handed out during a quarterly football pool.
Really, could it get any better? Well, if you look at the incredible work done by the NSCD, then yes it does get better. Proceeds from the party helped fun their program, which gives disabled children the opportunity to experience everything from rock climbing, rafting, skiing, soccer and more.
Besides, who doesn't enjoy a chance to drink, laugh, eat and party for good cause in the exact same room that has come to be the place of post game mourn and sullen sadness for every single team to visit Invesco so far this season? We certainly do.
