Local designers flood the runway for a good cause
This year’s Red Ball, a benefit for the Colorado AIDS Project, had all the characteristics of a top notch fashion show at the EXDO Events Center on Sunday night: Beautiful people dressed to the nines having cocktails and schmoozing the social scene: check. Local celebrities making an appearance in the V.I.P. section: check. Top-notch local designers and hair stylists working together to put on a show that looks like something out of New York’s fashion week: check.
The “checks” could keep going on and on, this was the fashion event of the fall here in Denver, and it was all for a great cause. The ball was put on to raise awareness for World AIDS day, as well as raising some support for the organization that has taken care of 75 percent of Denver’s population who struggle with the virus. Denver’s hometown hero and Project Runway runner-up Mondo Guerra was on hand and gave a few words about how CAP has provided him with support in the past as he struggles with his own battle against AIDS.
DJ Rockstar Aaron sporting his regular rainbow mowhawk was cranking out the beats, and there was a silent auction with plenty of amazing items to bid on to make this a complete fundraiser. There’s no doubt this was a major win in the battle against AIDS and an amazing night of style for all. — Josh Barrett
