No matter what it takes, Mrs. Watts will return to Bountiful
The elderly Mrs. Watts is determined to return to the town of her birth despite the protests of her son and bossy daughter-in-law in Horton Foote's The Trip to Bountiful playing in the Space Theatre at the Denver Performing Arts Center. Her trip hits a snag when she finds out trains no longer run to Bountiful, but undeterred she hops a coach and convinces an understanding police officer to drive her the rest of her way despite the attempts of her family to reign her in. Along the way she befriends a lone traveler and reminisces about her youth and lost relatives in this touching drama. Playing through Oct. 25.
