Kroenke Sports Charities gala bring folks to the poker table
When most people get a chance to meet a professional sports player, it’s usually walking up to a table where they are signing autographs, handing them a jersey or a hat and saying something like, “Dude you were awesome in last night's game,” which is followed by the player half smiling but not really paying attention. How much better would it be to play "Rock Band" with your favorite Avalanche player, or go all in on a hand of poker while chatting with a point guard from the Nuggets? Fortunately, there are parties thrown by rather large sports team owners, and that’s what was happening at the Pepsi Center on Friday night.
Kroenke Sports Charities hosted the Mile High Dreams Gala, which was raising money for a good cause, and letting fans hang with their favorite players. Stan Kroenke doesn’t throw small parties, so the lavish appetizers, open bar and ridiculously opulent auction items were no surprise. ome of the Avalanche were spotted rocking hard with their girlfriends and other guests on "Rock Band;" Chauncey Billups, Melo, and Nene were betting on hands in a game of Texas Hold 'Em and some Mammoth players were taking photos near the photo booth with guests.
Lots of money was raised via the silent auction throughout the night. Both sports fans and those in need had dreams come true on Friday.
