Project Runway star headlines the city's first fashion expo
Whitney Port better prepare herself to live in the Mile High City if she keeps doing fashion, especially after seeing Denver Style Expo which hit the Denver Merchandise Mart through the weekend!
The expo is definitely one sign that Denver is beginning to establish itself on the national stage when it comes to designing beautiful apparel. The other sign would be the rise into the spotlight of designers such as Mondo Guerra, who took runner-up in "Project Runway Season 8,", but definitely stole the hearts of America. The Denver Style Expo was a fantastic way for local designers and fashionistas to come together and show off their latest looks and designs at their booths, as well as network and begin relationships to collaborate with each other.
Denver fashion designer Mona Lucero, Fashion Denver, Be Your Own You clothing, Rachel Lefort and more had wonderful exposure at the event to flaunt what they got! There was an audience participation fashion show where participants of the expo could strut the stage and show off their looks.
But, of course, the big moment of the evening was Mondo’s fashion show finale, showcasing a variety of designers from Colorado. Mondo’s line was exactly what his fans were expecting: bold design with lots of bright color and a vibrant personality. A few of his looks were reminiscent of some pieces he created for 'Project Runway.' It was a great night for all of those into fashion here in Denver!—Josh Barrett, Special to Metromix
