Denver Botanic Gardens blooms at night
Denver Botanic Gardens opened its gates Friday night for the annual Garden Grapes and Hops bash, bringing dozens of brewers and vintners together with 1,700 adoring fans.
Last year's GGH was a soggy affair, but this time the weather could hardly have been more perfect. The sell-out crowd kept the party jumping right up until closing time without getting too wild, and vendors generally seemed able to keep up with demand (although the poor folks at the ever-popular Crepes 'n Crepes had their work cut out for them). Breweries ranging from Wynkoop to MillerCoors (in the person of the surprisingly tasty Colorado Native beer) made the scene, as did multiple wineries, distilleries and even a "meadery."
Metromix set up shop across from the Andy Hackbarth Band, throwing down our cornhole game and what would turn out to be far too few prizes for the enthusiastic crowd. Thanks to the Gardens, all the fans who stopped by to hang with us, and to local alt-rockers Della for proudly sporting Metromix shades during their set. — Matt Farley, Metromix
