Snow falls to help illuminate the holiday magic
The City and County Building on 14th Street and Bannock hit the switch on 6,000 holiday lights on Nov. 28, transforming Denver's historic building into one of the cities most spectacular holiday displays. As if the manual switch also cued some other holiday magic, snow starting to fall almost on cue as festive music filled the crisp winter air.
Hosting the celebration were 9NEWS Anchors Kyle Dyer and Gregg Moss, along with 9NEWS Entertainment Reporter Kirk Montgomery.
Live with performances by Dianne Reeves, the Rocky Mountain Children's Chior, Dotsero, Jake Schroder (from Opie Gone Bad), Ryan Bowman, and the Salvation Army Band all added to the festive atmosphere.
Just block away, another iconic lighting ceremony was talking place, as the Grand Illumination pulled into Union Station, a lighting tradition that also includes decorations at Larimer Square, Denver Pavilions, Skyline Park, the 16th Street Mall and the historic D&F Tower.
The lights will stay on through the New Year.
Metromix also was on the scene of The Littleton Candlelight Walk and Tree Lighting, as well as the Southlands Menora and Tree Lighting Ceremonies. And we have the jolly photos to prove it here.
