Colorado’s 42nd governor throws party in Denver
John Hickenlooper officially got inaugurated in the Colorado governor’s seat on Tuesday. And what else would a former brewer-turned-politician do to ring in his new job? Throw a party of course. The inauguration celebration took place at the Fillmore where Hickenlooper’s family, friends and fans packed the space from wall to wall.
The festivities kicked off with Colorado’s own Hazel Miller Band. The crowd was then pleasantly surprised with not one...not two...not three...but four speeches from former governors. Then adding Hickenlooper's speech at the end, everyone got a dose of political history firsthand by staring at five Colorado governors on one stage. Yes, it was politician central. Former Governors Bill Owens and Bill Ritter were there to lend their advice to Hickenlooper while making stabs at the lack of recent snow clean-up. Ha, not funny.
All in all, the night was filled with a lot of handshakes and socializing among Colorado’s elite. After the fancy dinner, everyone partied at the Ogden Theatre where OneRepublic headlined the concert part of the night.
Welcome to the Colorado governor seat, Hickenlooper. Now please, do a better job at the plowing the snow.
