Miss Colorado and Andrea Ball raise awareness of sex trafficking
Denver women helped raid their underwear drawer for old bras to help fight sex trafficking in Africa. Free the Girls held a benefit concert at the Gothic Theatre on Tuesday night.
The organization Free the Girls is based in Denver and Mozambique, Africa—which helps raise awareness and aid support for victims of sex trafficking. The benefit concert gave Denverites the opportunity to whip off their over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder’s for the cause. All the bras (old and new) will be shipped to Africa. It is true, the bras piled high at the event.
The organization gathered approximately 4,600 bras to pack up and ship overseas. Those who attended the benefit concert were able to enjoy a variety of female musical acts including Andrea Ball, who’s album ‘Dial Tone’ has been recognized as one of the best albums to come out of Denver this past year.
Miss Colorado USA, Blair Griffith was also on-hand to help with a small fashion show that showcased apparel that folks could by to financially support the organization.
And for those who missed the event and have a bra collection that needs some minimizing, check www.freethegirls.com on how to contribute!
