The 1940s White Christmas Ball
As if we were thrown into a time machine, the Balch Field House (built in 1937) at the University of Colorado Boulder was transformed into a perfect replica of a 1940s post-World War II holiday party. The fabulous event brought back all the warmth and nostalgia of a more simple time!
The Dean Bushnell’s 12-piece '40s dance orchestra played most of the night for over 1,000 guests in a set right out of the movie White Christmas. Bing Crosby, the Andrews Sisters, Act Reveille4, aerialist Brandy Dew and the Boulder Swing Dance and burlesque performances delighted the guests.
There was a colorful costume contest for the most authentic '40s and '50s outfits. The winner of the single male was a real WWII vet showing off his original uniform. It cannot get more authentic than that. The categories were single female, single male and couple.
The night started off with swing dance lessons, which proved to be successful, as the guests danced LONG past midnight.
