Annual sci-fi festival gathers the geeks in DTC
StarFest invaded the Denver Tech Center this weekend, marking 33 years of sci-fi insanity for the annual gathering of the geeks.
Hosted by the Denver Marriott Tech Center, the event drew hundreds of costumed fans for three days of partying, panels and a chance to meet celebrities including Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca the Wookie) and LeVar Burton (Geordi LaForge on "Star Trek: The Next Generation").
The annual ComicFest and HorrorFest ran concurrently, meaning the hotel courtyard was swarming with nearly as many zombies and superheroes as robots and warrior princesses. The staff (and the few hapless hotel guests who were not there for the convention) dealt with the horde as best they could. Overall, the different groups seemed to be getting along — especially considering the number of bloodthirsty mutants in the crowd. — Matt Farley, Metromix
