An Affair on the Square lets folks dine in the street downtown
A typical scene down Larimer Square on a summer night consists of cars parked bumper-to-bumper along the curbs, with taxis and limos filling the lanes slowing traffic, and pedestrians dodging the traffic to make their way to the clubs and restaurants. Wednesday night was a little different. Lodo's famed shopping and dining district closed off the street and brought out the linens to create a patio experience that happens only once a year. Larimer Square held An Affair on the Square, a dining event that benefits the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. Hundreds of foodies and supporters of the symphony filled the tables to enjoy some tastes from a variety of restaurants within downtown's premier hot spot such as The Capital Grille, Corridor 44, Lime, Rioja, and many more.
The symphony gathered some of its talent and offered live music for patrons, both classical earlier in the evening as well as some jazz later on in the night. Complimentary cocktails were included with admission, and there was a bar available for those who wanted to schmooze after dinner. It was a fun way to support what the Colorado Symphony Orchestra does, and enjoy eating under the glittering lights of Larimer Square!
