Hundreds of dancers compete for top spots
Invesco Field opened its doors Sunday to hundreds of aspiring dancers, models and other performance-minded women in a search for the next generation of Broncos and Outlaws cheerleaders.
The stadium's club level was packed with women ranging in age from 18 to mid-30s and of wildly varied skill levels and backgrounds. Within a few hours, each cheerleading hopeful had to memorize and perform a new routine for a panel of judges, who aimed to cut at least half the group ahead of the final, public tryouts on May 9 at Pinnacle Charter School. Some promising competitors who don't quite make the Broncos cut will have a shot at cheering for the Outlaws instead. A film crew was also on hand, shooting a documentary set to air on Comcast later this year.
