In the 1850s during Denver’s beginnings, its population was made up entirely of prospectors, miners and mountain men. In this male-dominated settlement, there wasn’t a hair parlor, tanning salon, Build-a-Bear teddy bear boutique or "Sex in the City 2" movie premiere to be found. The next generation of Denverites included ranchers and cowboys using cattle prods and lassos to keep Denver’s manly tradition alive. However, in recent years, Denver’s reputation seems to be slipping, as the city dropped down six slots in the 2010 manly rankings.
