If you look west anywhere in Colorado, you will see thousands of gorgeous peaks just waiting to be climbed. The Rocky Mountains are a national wonder that bring people from all over the globe to come explore. Just because it's time to put the skiis and snowboards away, does not mean you can't enjoy the Rockies throughout spring and summer. We've got an action-packed list of the best hikes and rocky trails, right here in Colorado.

Lace up your hiking boots and get ready to get down and dirty on some of these favorite paths.

Hanging Lake/ Spouting Rock

Hanging Lake/ Spouting Rock

I-70 Westbound to Grizzly Creek exit - Glenwood Canyon

The two mile hike is not the only part of Hanging Lake that takes your breath away. The intersection of the Colorado River and Deadhorse Creek, creates a beautiful and breathtaking view of a natural waterfall and crisp, blue lake. At only two miles, this is a great day hike. Just beware of the drive if you are coming from Denver, it will take a few hours. Oh, and do not forget the camera; you're never going to want to forget Hanging Lake.

Rainbow Lakes and Arapahoe Glacier Trail

Rainbow Lakes and Arapahoe Glacier Trail

Highway 72 to Forest Road Exit 298 - Boulder

This is a very strenuous hike through the beauty of Boulder County. Your flimsy sneakers won't cut it, you're going to need real hiking boots with great tread for this one. The trail is 10 miles and winds up through Watershed Bounty and thick spruce forests. Near the two Rainbow Lakes, there is a perfect spot to rest and snack on that energy bar, or even have a full-blown picnic. Dogs are allowed, so don't leave Sparky behind.

Chicago Basin

Chicago Basin

Just east of Pagosa Springs - San Juan National Forest

Nope, we're not talking about the windy city. Chicago Basin is right here in colorful Colorado and includes three of the best 14ers any hiking enthusiast could wish for. On this hike, you can enjoy and appreicate the San Juan Mountains and the Animas River. Mount Eolus, Windom Peak, and Sunlight Peak complete this trifecta of pretty peaks.

Seven Falls

Seven Falls

Manitou Springs

Historic and gorgeous. Numerous, well, ok, seven waterfalls graciously cascade down the mountain sides of this aborable little town. Manitou Springs is home to many of Colorado's unique little tourist attractions, but Seven Falls is the one you should plan a day around. If you don't want to walk up millions of stairs and dirt paths to see its beauty, there is an elevator you can take to the top of the falls. We are warning you though, the elevator is a little creepy. Once you're at the top, you can take separate trails back down to the bottom, or you can stop, look around, snap some photos, and race your buddy back down the stairs.

Garden of the Gods

Garden of the Gods

1805 N 30th Street (at Gateway Rd.) - Colorado Springs
719-634-6666

If you haven't been to Garden of the Gods, you are really missing out on something spectacular. In fact, we just feel bad for you if you haven't checked this spot out. You can bike, hike, climb, walk, eat, shop, learn Colorado history, and not to mention witness nature's beauty at its best. Plus, downtown Colorado Springs is just minutes away. So make a day out of hiking Garden of the Gods.
