Steve Canyon Statue in Idaho Springs

After World War II the city of Idaho Springs, Colorado was taken over with post-war patriotism. In honor of the cartoon hero who had been a regular in Sunday comic strips during war time, Steve Canyon became the town's new nick name. A few years later, citizens of Idaho Springs pushed for a statue to be built. And in 1950, their wish came true. This limestone Statue of Steve Canyon stands proud on Miner Street in Idaho Springs.
