Bringing back the 1940's in Boulder
Who doesn’t love the style of the 1940’s? And who doesn’t like old World War II planes, jeeps, swing bands, and swing dancing? Many people do, and that’s why there was such a fantastic turnout for the 1940’s World War II Ball held in a hangar at the Boulder Airport this past Saturday! Attendees ranged in age from actual World War II veterans to kids. The guys were sporting zoot suits and wing tip shoes, the girls had their hair styled like Betty Page.
A B25 Bomber, along with two other planes used during the World War II era were parked right next to the hangar where the festivities to help bring back the 40’s, along with some dressed as soldiers and officers from the war. The entertainment included Joe Peterson’s 10-piece 40’s band who helped facilitate the dancing, as well as a barbershop quartet, and several swing dancing troupes showing off their skills. The crowd jumped, jived, and wailed until midnight!
