Playing around with a play within a play
Credit:Terry Shapiro
Michael Frayn's Noises Off chronicles the misadventures of a an inept theater troupe as they attempt to stage the seedy British sex romp ala Benny Hill, Noises On. The concept of a play within a play struck Frayn as he watched the chaotic rehearsals surrounding one of his early plays which proved to be more entertaining than the play itself. Off-stage turmoil collides with on-stage confusion in this rollicking comedy that highlights the disorderly nature of staging a play. Playing through Oct. 29.
