A Metromix producer goes behind the scenes to learn more about soap box racing than he ever wanted
The Red Bull Soap Box Race is upon us; needless to say we can’t resist being fascinated. So much so that our Metromix producer, Justin Jimenez, just couldn’t resist the urge to go behind the scenes on the track with photographer, Alex Jimenez (there is a relation, not holy). We’ll refer to them as “Producer” and “Photographer” from here on out to eliminate any confusion.
The duo snuck onto Trading Post Road at Red Rocks as the street of mayhem was being constructed to get the covert nitty gritty on how a soap box derby goes down (okay, we begged the public relations team to let them come as the course was being put together). And in the end it was all worth it; everyone was well educated on the art, rules and completely terrifying experience of soap box racing.
