Beer Drinkers of the Nation Unite
Now that the presidential candidates have already been selected, Americans can get down to the much more arduous and delicious task of choosing the best beer in all the land. For the 46,000 odd brew enthusiasts who descend on the Convention Center October 9th, 10th and 11th, the Great American Beer Festival is like Christmas come early. And this is a non-denominational event, so celebrate Christmas Thursday, Chanukah Friday and Kwanzaa Saturday. Listed as one of the top 1,000 places to visit in the United States before you die, if you’re not in attendance you had better be dead…with a doctor’s note to prove it. Still not convinced? The 27th annual incarnation of the festival will feature 1,900 different beers from 400 U.S. breweries. Colorado alone will be represented by over 60 suds slingers. The event is also a competition for brewers and 75 different styles will be judged by a panel of over 100 of the world’s foremost beer experts. Think you’ve tried it all? The GABF is calling shenanigans. This year three new styles will be included in the festivities: Fresh Hop Ale, American-Belgo Style Ale, and Leipzig-Style Gose. Bottoms up!
