Who let Alfred's dogs out...in public?
The excitement was palpable May 19th at Comedy Works South at the Landmark in DTC for Denver radio personality Alfred Williams’ bachelor party. Maybe it was the comics which included Chuck Roy and Steve “Mudflap” McGrew. Or maybe it was the music of Opie Gone Bad. Or maybe the fact that Nuggets were set to square off with the Lakers in the first game of the Western Conference Championship. Or, maybe it was the Miller Lite Girls, or Denver Dream ladies of the Lingerie Football League, or the Knockouts cosmetologists or Shotgun Willie’s adult entertainers. Whatever the reason, the several hundred fans who showed up were definitely excited.
Williams, a former Broncos standout and current 104.3 The Fan radio host, presided over a bevy of beauties while on stage, but passed the buck when it came to the swimsuit competition to his soon to be father-in-law. “He’s paying for the wedding for sure now,” Williams joked afterward.
Entertainment aside, it was a good opportunity to check out the newest member of the Comedy Works family which boasts a huge showroom, two floors, two patios and several bars. The spacious and modern setting easily handled the assembled masses and proved that a comedy club could offer more than just funnymen and women.
Even though the Nuggets ended up on the opposite side of victory, the visual stimulation gave attendees something to remember other than the final score.
It was really great,” concluded Williams. “A lot of guys that call the show came in…I got to meet the person behind the voice.”
