If you hate doing traditional workouts and love crazy races like the muddy buddy and the urban adventure race you gotta check out Animal Fitness. They set up "fitness courses" all around town every week which are kinda like a mini adventure race workouts- there is one at Red Rocks this Saturday. Last one I did at red rocks they had me pulling tires up the stairs and doing a scavenger hunt on the trails. It was a killer workout but soooo much fun! The website is: animalfitness.net

Don't forget about Hike for Youth... the best opportunity to get kids off the couch and into the outdoors: Hike for Youth benefits three local charities that engage kids in outdoor recreation, education and conservation: cityWILD, Colorado Mountain Club’s Youth Education Program and Mile High Youth Corps. On Saturday, September 12, 2009, participants of all ages will hit the trails of Golden Gate Canyon State Park for the sixth annual family–friendly event. New this year is the 10K Trail Run for Youth, your chance to run alongside Olympians and soak in their training secrets. For more information, email hikeforyouth@mhyc.net and register at www.hikeforyouth.org in early July.

you also missed the Undy 5000 - a "brief" run to fight colon cancer (in your boxer shorts/undies!!!) Yes, you get boxer shorts when you register for this race instead of the typical boring t-shirt. This is a 5K run/walk inside of City Park on June 27,2009. For more info or to register visit www.undy5000.org and click on Denver.

Totally missed the FIBArk Hooligan Race in Salida on July 18-19th, this has to be one of the craziest races around. Whitewater rafting with 2 rules, #1 your "boat" cannot be an actual boat, and #2 Second place wins, (creating a major cluster**** at the end with these homemade crafts - or whats left of them after the rapids - trying to backpeddle up a swollen river...)
