Don’t you remember those days back when you were in elementary school and Earth Day was such a huge deal? Every year you got to plants trees, do relay races and participate in all the fun “Earth Day” events. Those were the days. Then we all grew up and most of us couldn’t even tell you what day Earth Day falls on, yet alone what month it is in. Until now of course. Maybe it was Al Gore’s documentary about global warming or the popularity of Hybrid cars that have made people care about the Earth more. Within the past couple years people have really stepped into action. People care about recycling, how much gas they consume and even which light bulbs conserve the most electricity.

The Green Apple Festival is coming to Denver and taking place at City Park on April 20. Starting at noon, you can watch bands, listen to speakers and learn about environmental actions we all can take to help out our favorite planet—Earth. Come on, wouldn’t it be fun to dress up like Captain Planet and actually “go green” on Sunday? The festival is happening in eight different landmarks across the country all in places that don’t consist of concrete and other “non-Earth Day" type products. This is by far the biggest Earth Day celebration Colorado has ever seen, and it’s happening this weekend.

Just to pump you up some more (if helping the Earth isn’t enough to rev your engine) some of the bands hitting the stage are The Neville Brothers and Boulder natives, Rose Hill Drive. It might be helpful to ride your bike to this festival because you’ll look like a big, giant ass if you roll up in your guzzling Hummer or something.

So go and participate in one of the biggest Earth Day celebrations at City Park and get ready to go green, Denver.
