Girl Talk mashes up the mounds
Gregg Gillis lights up Keystone, Friday night
While the name might be deceiving, his fan following is not. Gregg Gillis, the man that goes by the moniker of Girl Talk, is sweeping the nation with his electronic mash-ups, and closed out Keystone’s Friday Night Lights concert series on Dec. 5 with arguably the best showing of the three-part concert series.
While the term Friday Night Lights carries a different connotation in, say, Texas as it does here in Colorado, the one constant appears to be a state of feverish anticipation. The event replaces the former 36 Hours of Keystone, a marathon ski session that proved so popular it outgrew the resort.
When Girl Talk took over though, it was the birth of a new mountain tradition. With thousands of fans swarming the sole man and his laptop, the Hunki Dori parking lot adjacent to the brand new eight-passenger River Run Gondola came alive regardless of how many inches of snow was falling on the resort.
