Denver geeks out at Starfest 2010
Thousands of sci-fi fans invade DTC
April 17, 2010
Thousands of fans of science fiction, horror, fantasy, comic books and other assorted, glorious weirdness filled the Marriott DTC for the annual Starfest convention over the weekend, many in costume and all thrilled at the chance to let their freak flags fly.
Sci-fi celebrities such as Summer Glau ("Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles") and comics guru Whilce Portacio were on hand to meet fans, and there were hundreds of oddball vendors and filmmakers eager to share their wares. But the weekend's biggest thrill was mingling with other convention-goers. Characters ranging from anime babes to "Star Wars" storm troopers and blood-streaked horror movie killers prowled a full block of the DTC, making for some truly traffic-stopping moments of all kinds.
The convention was set to wrap up Sunday night.
