Festivus Film Festival awards bash a blockbuster at Sports Book
Film festival brings the party to downtown Denver
Cannes, Sundance, Telluride…they’ve got nothing on this! Denver proved this weekend that it can hang with the big boys as far as film festivals go with the 3rd Annual Festivus Film Festival blowing up the city this weekend. Crowds packed into the Oriental and Bug theatres in the highlands to view feature length fims, short films, and everything else in between from filmmakers all over the world. The festival featured 12 world premier films, an unbelievable amount for any film festival, as well as work done by filmmakers here in our very own backyard such as the mockumentary film “Race Walkers” amongst others.
So with all this hype for something so big, obviously there were some righteous parties to follow, one of which is what went down at Sports Book on Saturday night! The film festival hosted their blowout awards bash at the fairly new Sports Book in the heart of downtown, and there were plenty of folks there to celebrate. Filmmakers flashed their awards around the bar, which were steel skulls made by a local artist here in Denver. Drinks were flowing, and the upstairs to Sports Book was packed like sardines with everyone wanting to join in on the fun! A DJ spun some tunes to get a dance party going to get the blood flowing for those that were in the theatre all day catching films. It was a fantastic party, and shows that when it comes to film festivals, Denver does it right!
