Halloween. It conjures up images of ghosts and goblins; pumpkins and the paranormal; and…Roberto Benigni? OK fine, Italy may not be the first thing to pop into our minds when thinking of All Hallow’s Eve, but when we heard Il Posto, one of Denver’s best Italian restaurants, would be putting on a black and orange themed dinner throughout the month of October, we were there.
Milan-born chef/owner Andrea Frizzi normally changes up his tasting menu daily (“Food in my country is not just about being fed – it’s about emotion and how you feel that day”), and October will be no exception. In honor of the American holiday devoted to debauchery, Frizzi decided to use fresh, local ingredients to put together a creepy yet delicious tasting menu ($45 per person; $65 with wine pairings). So put on your best Mussolini costume and head down to Il Posto to get you bleeding black and orange.
When you first sit down, you’ll be given our favorite type of gift – alcohol! To create community (heck, we’d like our neighbors a whole lot better if they gave us shots every time we walked by), Chef Frizzi doles out shot glasses of Prosecco or Lambrusco to every customer who sits down. Viva Italia!
