Long Dog Derby 2009 brings hundreds of weens
Get a loooong little doggy
September 20, 2009
People who own miniature dachshunds better get used to them being called "weiner dogs," "sausage dogs" or even the slang version "weens." Oktoberfest kicked off the 2nd Annual Long Dog Derby where weiner dogs from across the state competed to be crowned the fastest weiner in the west. The competition had the little links division (weens under one year), the frankfurters division (one to five years), the bier brats (five to 10 years), the senior schnitzels (older than 10 years), the hot dog carts (handicapped weenies) and the wannabe weiners category for those who wish they are full-bred doxies.
Weiners and their owners came out to enjoy the races, the crowd...and to sniff each other's behinds (the dogs, not the owners). Check out pics from the races and from the annual costume contest.
