Brandon Flowers and company get people dancing in the foothills

Dance-pop icons The Killers returned to Colorado on Wednesday night, this time filling Red Rocks Amphitheatre to the brim with hordes of hipsters and dance kids hungry for some rock straight out of Vegas.  And the Vegas vibe was definitely there, with the band taking to the stage that had a zebra print floor, a piano covered in glass tile and palm trees lining the back of the set. The Killers took the road again this summer, rocking a plethora of hits from their three studio albums, but doing so in a way that made sure everyone knows where they are from.

The night was warmed up by Nervous Wreckords, who effortlessly delivered their indie pop flavor to the crowd.  A combination of rock with piano and some hints of folk rock made for a perfect start to the night. The lead singer for Nervous Wreckords commented that Red Rocks was the "best venue in the U.S." to play at, not that there were any doubters in the audience.

The Killers were quick to follow on stage, starting things off with the hit "Human" from their latest record. The band was consistent in delivering songs for the crowd to dance to through the night with hits like "Somebody Told Me" and of course, "Mr. Brightside".  Lead singer Brandon Flowers was certainly to blame for the energy of the crowd, at one point climbing on to the rocks to the side of the stage to belt out some vocals.

If you are still hungry for some rock live at Red Rocks but missed The Killers, be sure to hit the Monolith Festival this weekend!
