80's hair band returns to Denver

June 19, 2009

The Grizzly Rose isn't only for cowboy hats and country dancing.  This was proved on Friday night as the legendary rock band Skid Row took the stage to bring some rock'n'roll to Denver. Skid Row made a name for themselves as one of the great hair bands of the 80's and still has a committed following as was shown at their packed show on Friday. 80's rock fans, both young and old, arrived adorning their favorite band shirts from back in the day including Motley Crüe, Kiss, Guns N' Roses, and more.

Local openers Dark Red Sky warmed up the crowd playing an hour long set of original music to get folks in the mood for some serious headbanging. Then, another local band, Romeo Delight, who is a Van Halen tribute band, took the stage. You could have easily thought David Lee Roth was singing if you weren't looking at the stage.  These guys put on an incredible performance of Halen's early hits playing songs like "Panama" and "Hot For Teacher".

Then Skid Row took the stage, rocking the house like they are still in their prime. The band has three members from its "classic" days which include Dave Sabo, Scotti Hill, and Rachel Bolan. Dave Gara was on drums, and no, Sebastian Bach wasn't there, but Johnny Solinger did an amazing job filling his shoes. The crowd sang along with passion as Skid Row cranked some of their biggest hits like "18 and Life," "Youth Gone Wild," and their famous rock ballad "I Remember You."
