We have all found ourselves in our cars jamming out to our favorite songs while strumming on our rockin’ air guitars. But being able to play 18 holes of golf doesn’t make you Tiger Woods. So when we play our air guitars, it makes us nowhere as good as the competitors in the U.S. Air Guitar Championships.
On June 16 at the Bluebird Theatre, Denver’s professional air guitarers are going to take the stage and battle the Colorado thin air—in hopes of making it to nationals in Washington D.C.
The names Stryker, Big Rig, Magic Cyclops and Hot Lixx Hulahan may not mean much to the average person, but to air guitar groupies, they are the ultimate badasses in rock.
Magic Cyclops won regionals in 2008 and is gearing up to take the stage this year. But there is a catch: He is no longer referred to as “Magic Cyclops:” he officially has another alter ego that he unveiled in our chat session with him.
