Work it, Harry!

Prince Harry, as patron of an upcoming expedition to climb Mount Everest, did a little treadmill workout today in an altitude chamber to promote the cause.

Praising the "staggering determination" of five Walking With The Wounded organization's men who will attempt the climb, Harry emerged red-faced and slightly out of breath, reports the Press Association, as he experienced some of the conditions the men will face.

In a speech to the team who will tackle the mountain, Harry said: "Mount Everest - a name to instill fear into the hearts of seasoned mountaineers. ... Not so for this crop of lunatics with odd numbers of arms and legs but staggering determination."

Harry added: "But this is not just about the men you see before you. It's about the future for many more. The expedition to the Himalayas - of which I am so proud to be patron - is raising money to train and educate those with physical and cognitive injuries suffered in war to manage their transition into civilian employment."

Harry was thought to be joining the group on the Everest climb in May, but the prince's spokesman told The Telegraph last week, "He won't be going to the Himalayas because of his military commitments."

Also on Friday, the Prince paid a visit to the Royal Air Force base in Honington, England, where he met veterans and was shown new equipment such as sniper rifles, night vision systems and machine guns. Harry was on hand to present service commendations to some personnel.
