Police were asking for help in finding a man who was convicted of threatening to kill Madonna.
Los Angeles police said Thursday that Robert Dewey Hoskins walked away from a Los Angeles-area state mental hospital last week, AP reported.
Hoskins, 54, was described as "highly psychotic" and potentially extremely violent and should not be approached by members of the public. Police urged anyone who sees him to call authorities immediately.
UPDATE 4 p.m. ET: Police took Hoskins into custody today in Long Beach, Calif.

Hoskins, who left the Metropolitan State Hospital in Norwalk, Calif., last Friday, served a 10-year prison sentence for stalking and threatening Madonna after being convicted by a jury in 1996. The singer reluctantly testified against the man, who was shot by her personal security after he jumped the fence of her Hollywood Hills home.
