Sports bars in Denver
It's that time of year again
August 6, 2009Lodo's Bar and Grill
1946 Market St. - DenverLodo's definitely has the best patio in town with the best view—Coors Field. This insanely popular hotspot draws in crowds from all over. Everyone comes for one thing in mind; to have fun and meet new people. This football season, look for $2.50 Coors and Coors Light, $3.50 Fat Tire, Blue Moon and Sunshine and $5 nachos and quesadillas, among other specials.
Jackson's All American Sports Grill
1520 20th St. - DenverThe big news at Jackson's is the Bronco Bus, a shuttle that will carry passengers back and forth between Jackson's and Invesco Field. Various special events and draft specials are also planned. If burgers, sandwiches, beer and cocktails are your thing, served up with a "touchdown" atmosphere, then Jackson’s Sports Rock is sure to be your kind of place.
Sports Column
1930 Blake St. - DenverThis is a sports bar for sports fanatics. If you don't come in your favorite jersey you'll just feel out of place and awkward. If they'll even let you in. However, if you are one of those many people in the sports culture you'll feel right at home in the warm and fuzzy drunk vibe the passionate fans give off. And they take fans of all teams, not just Denver favorites. We know this since a bartender was wearing a Cubs shirt while the Cubs were in town playing the Rockies. As if! On the plus side, they do have amazing drink specials, especially on Coors products.
Champps Americana
8325 S. Park Meadows Center Dr. - Lone TreeOne of America's premium sports bars, Champps Americana is a huge space with giant-sized TVs all throughout its layout. About the only place you won't find one is on the toilet seat, but we heard they were working on that. Football fans can quench their thirsts with $2 pints of Killian's and Coors Light, $3 pints of Blue Moon and Fat Tire, $4 glasses of wine, and $4 shots. You can also upsize your beer to 24 ounces for a $1 more, which might come in handy during those disappointingly close losses.
Lodo's Bar and Grill
8545 S. Quebec St. - Highlands RanchLodo's Bar and Grill is a popular hangout. It actually wears many hats and offers a good time for just about anyone. If you are looking for a great lunch or dinner, you can find it here and try to get out on the patio, the view is well worth it. It also serves as a great sports bar on game days with plenty of plasma TVs to watch wherever you're sitting. On gameday, everything from buckets of beer to hot wings will be going fast and cheap.
Old Chicago
1415 Market St. - DenverDear God, what are they thinking? Old Chicago plans to show Broncos games on the TVs in their front bar, while in the back, fans will be able to see (gasp!) the Chicago Bears. No potential for trouble there. There will also be rotating beer and food specials daily.
Blake Street Tavern
2301 Blake St. - DenverWith more than 20 draft beers and the Flying Dog brewery right next door, Blake Street Tavern is like, THE best hangout ever! Play some pool and throw a few back while watching the game on one of their many televisions, or swing by after the game for drink and food specials. Known for their ballpark-style burgers and dogs, they definitely cater to the avid sports fan.
The Tavern Downtown
1949 Market St. - DenverFor a town that spends a few months under a blanket of snow each year, we sure do like to cut loose once it’s gone, and where better than on a rooftop patio? The Tavern Downtown sports a three-deck patio and plenty of room to move freely instead of the Saturday night crush that happens on so many other rooftop patios. Then head inside and play a few frames of Thunder Bowling, catch the last quarter on the plasma screens and show your fancy footwork on the dancefloor. A slate of football deals are in the works, but won't kick in until after the preseason.
