It is time to go out and celebrate the local GLBT community in Denver. Pridefest is here and the handful of gay-friendly bars will be packed. But, Pridefest shouldn't be the only reason to check out these bars. All of them offer a unique experience from fun-themed evenings to killer drink specials. We should pride ourselves on the amazing gay and lesbian bars Denver has to offer.

Boyz Town
Boyz will be boyz, and the boyz will be friendly. Boyz Town features live male entertainment six nights per week, an annual 'erotic male' competition, a relaxed atmosphere, and cheap drinks. It's enough of a neighborhood bar though that you can go just to enjoy a few drinks with friends, just a little more eye candy to enjoy as well.
They stamp themselves as: A bar for all people, but the majority are lesbians. It’s a fun dive to go have some brewskies at or to shoot some pool. Not only that, they have a killer jukebox selection with all the fabulous queens of rock for options (yes, Madonna!). They also have a menu with your typical ‘bar food’ choices. They love to cater to the gay crowd but welcome everyone to this ultra-fab bar!
At Charlie’s it doesn’t have to state anything other than fun whether you’re gay, bi, straight, or otherwise. So wear your hat with pride at this rowdy gay rodeo. Which is the home of the Colorado Gay Rodeo Association.
The Wrangler is a man's man bar. Really. You will not be finding any ladies here, but you will find cheap drinks and a rowdy crowd. The Wrangler is one of Denver's most popular gay bars. Daily drink specials, loud music and a crowd that is always ready to party-- pack 'em into The Wrangler on a regular basis. During the summer, free BBQ and the famous "all you can drink" special draw lines around the block on Sunday afternoons. Pool tables, video games and a jukebox are available for entertainment.
This terrific lesbian-owned bar (sign in the front window: “Where the Girls Go”) is cozy and quiet. A perfect place to wire-up on espresso drinks, or the cocktail of your choice, and doodle away on a sketch pad. Better put, tHERe is a coffeehouse and lounge that caters to Denver's laid back GLBT community. Jody B, the owner, has been around Denver as a scene promoter, a DJ (you can still catch her at Roxy), and an artist (see some of her work in tHERe). As a coffeehouse and lounge, you can enjoy caffienated or alcoholic beverages while watching the L-word reruns, surfing the internet, listening to music, or participating in lesbian speed dating for the singles. It's also straight friendly, and a great place to sit and read, meet somebody new, or catch up with friends.
JR.'s Bar & Grill is heavy on the bar and light on the grill. This local gay bar attracts patrons of all persuasions looking for a rambunctious and racy night out. With nightly drink specials and unique events like "twisted" bingo called by transvestites, showtunes sing-a-longs, game shows and karaoke, JR.'s actively encourages audience participation. With two floors, this place is usually buzzing aided in part by a gregarious staff and a raucous crowd.
HER stands for Homosexual Equal Rights, so take a guess as to what this bar'sfancy is. As HER puts it "When you visit HER BAR, you're in for a treat. Live Music, weekly drink specials, pool tables, lesbians of all shapes and sizes, butch, femme, girls that dress like boys, boys that dress like...
