According to the U.S. Census Bureau, just .1% of Denver’s population is Cuban. Try telling that to the crowd at Mynt Mojito Lounge, the LoDo bar specializing in Cuba’s national drink, the mojito, on a weekend night. Heard the phrase everyone’s Irish on St. Patrick’s Day? Well everyone’s Cuban when they step inside Mynt.
Once one of the trendiest destinations in the Larimer Square area, Mynt has mellowed somewhat since it opened in 2002. Still, it has established itself as one of the dominant players on the Denver late-night scene. But just how Cuban is this mojito bar? Is this Hemingway’s Cuba or just another counterfeit cigar?
