And the winner is…
Sports Column
1930 Blake St.
Denver, CO 80202Neighborhood: Lodo
This is a sports bar for sports fanatics. If you don't come in your favorite jersey, you'll just feel out of place and awkward. If they'll even let you in. However, if you are one of those many people in the sports culture you'll feel right at home in the warm and fuzzy drunk vibe the passionate fans give off. And they take fans of all teams, not just Denver favorites. We know this since a bartender was wearing a Cubs shirt while the Cubs were in town playing the Rockies. As if! On the plus side, they do have amazing drink specials.
Nominees
Dirk's Sports Tavern
7500 S. University Blvd.
Centennial, CO 80122Hey sports fans this one’s for you (Phillies fans excluded, we’re still bitter). Dirk’s is set up with 38 TVs so you can watch the game no matter where you park your butt in the restaurant. Right across from Arapahoe High School, this is a great restaurant to bring the whole fam-dam or a place to get to know fellow Centennials.
Oak Tavern
1416 Market St.
Denver, CO 80202Neighborhood: Larimer Square
The once-chic Monarck dance club transformed itself in a matter of weeks to become one of Denver’s classiest sports bars. With multiple big screen TVs a giant drop-down projector, a Western vibe and its own in-house brew, Oak Tavern has turned out to be a very promising spot to catch the Broncos or a UFC bout.
Lazy Dog Sports Bar & Grill
1346 Pearl St.
Boulder, CO 80302Neighborhood: Pearl Street / Downtown
OK, so Buffs aside, Boulder isn't always sports central. But the Lazy Dog brings out the big guns with more than 40 TVs, three projectors and plenty of comfy seating. It makes a strong case for best sports bar in Boulder.
Big Game Restaurant & Lounge
1631 Wazee St.
Denver, CO 80202Neighborhood: Lodo
Big Game takes the high road, and it's paid off big time. This isn't a "pitchers of Coors Light" kind of place, but you'd be hard-pressed to find better food and cooler environs on game day.
Last year's winner
Lodo's Bar and Grill
1946 Market St.
Denver, CO 80202Neighborhood: Lodo
Lodo's definitely has the best patio in town with the best view—Coors Field. This insanely popular hotspot draws in crowds from all over. Everyone comes for one thing in mind; to have fun and meet new people. If you want to be a socialite in Denver but hate paying $15 for a drink, Lodo's is where to go.
